Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety policies, procedures, and programs for general contracting operations.
- Conduct regular site safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments on active construction projects.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA 1926 standards and all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Deliver safety training and orientation for employees, new hires, and subcontractors (fall protection, excavation, scaffolding, electrical, crane operations, etc.).
- Review and approve subcontractor safety plans and ensure alignment with Construction standards.
- Monitor and track safety performance metrics and prepare monthly safety reports for leadership.
- Manage safety incentive programs and promote active employee engagement in safety initiatives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections or investigations.
- Oversee safety-related documentation, permits, and records.
- Collaborate with project management and field teams to integrate safety into project planning (pre-task planning, Job Hazard Analysis, etc.).
- Utilize Procore for safety documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking.
- Stay current with industry best practices, new regulations, and emerging safety technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive safety experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 years in a managerial role with a general contractor.
- Certified Safety Professional (
CSP
) or Construction Health & Safety Technician (
CHST
) strongly preferred. - In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and construction safety best practices.
- Proven success in reducing incident rates and strengthening safety culture on commercial or industrial projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Procore
. - Ability to travel regularly to multiple job sites in the Houston area and surrounding regions.
- Experience with high-risk construction activities (cranes, concrete, steel erection, excavation, etc.).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- First Aid/CPR instructor certification.
- Strong ability to influence safety behavior at all levels of the organization.
