Job Summary
The Estimator plays an important role in the construction project development process and is responsible for accurately estimating the costs and resources required for a variety of projects in the energy sector, ensuring that bids are competitive, profitable, and aligned with the Company’s commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities- Project Assessment:
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to thoroughly review project plans, specifications, and drawings, and identify key factors affecting construction costs. - Cost Estimation:
Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. - Bid Preparation:
Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that outline cost breakdowns, schedules, and other relevant information for submission to potential clients and stakeholders. - Vendor and Subcontractor Engagement:
Solicit quotes and negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms for project components. - Risk Analysis:
Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the estimation process and develop mitigation strategies to ensure accurate and reliable estimates. - Value Engineering:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore cost‑saving alternatives and value engineering options while maintaining project quality standards. - Bid Presentation:
Effectively communicate and present bid proposals to clients and project stakeholders, highlighting the company's competitive advantage and value proposition. - Documentation:
Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all estimating activities, including correspondence, pricing, and historical data for future reference. - Continuous Improvement:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and construction technologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the estimating process. - Team
Collaboration:
Work closely with project teams, including project managers, engineers, and procurement specialists, to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution plans.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating.
- Proficiency with Heavy Bid construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimates.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and ethical business practices.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Background of project management or field experience in construction is encouraged.
