Vega Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects. The Estimator will analyze project plans and specifications, solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing, and develop competitive bids while ensuring profitability and project success.
Key Responsibilities- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Prepare detailed project estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
- Identify potential project risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and clients during the bidding process.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and bid results.
- Assist with change order pricing and project cost analysis.
- Support value engineering efforts to provide cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure estimates comply with company standards and project requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Experience with estimating software such as Planswift, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, or similar.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience with doors, frames, and hardware estimating.
- Knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
