Job Overview
We’re looking for a Road-Building Leader in the Houston, TX area. As a Paving Superintendent, you will lead crews on high-impact projects—including concrete slipform paving—across multiple cities and job sites. This hands‑on field leadership role requires you to manage crews, run equipment, keep schedules tight, and work closely with project teams to deliver excellence every step of the way. The role involves regular travel to sites in Belton, Laredo, Pecos, Waco, and other locations.
Key Responsibilities- Direct and supervise all paving activities on site, ensuring work meets project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
- Lead and coordinate crews involved in grading, base preparation, asphalt, and/or concrete paving operations.
- Oversee and manage slipform paving equipment setup, production rates, and finish quality (if applicable).
- Monitor job progress and adjust operations to meet or exceed schedule and budget targets.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and conduct daily job hazard analyses (JHAs).
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve field issues.
- Manage equipment, material deliveries, and daily crew assignments.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and field documentation.
- Train and mentor crew members to build a skilled, safety‑focused workforce.
- Communicate with inspectors, clients, and DOT officials as needed.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in heavy civil paving.
- Experience in concrete slipform paving, curb, and gutter.
- Gomaco machine experience required.
- Experienced running multiple crews and projects.
- Willingness to travel to project sites.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of individuals in the workplace.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (assistance recommended for heavier loads).
- Work extended hours on foot, including on uneven or rough surfaces.
- Climb ladders, kneel, crawl, or work at heights and in confined spaces.
