Construction Senior (Sr.) Project Manager
At Houston Methodist, the Construction Senior (Sr.) Project Manager position is responsible for assuring highly complex or highly visible construction/renovation projects are designed and completed in accordance with approved program, budget, and schedule, and in a manner consistent with hospital needs, procedures and policies.
This position, with minimal supervision, is an effective liaison between Houston Methodist (HM), the Hospital client department, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and others.
The Construction Sr Project Manager must be able to manage multiple highly complex or highly visible projects simultaneously and must be familiar with all aspects of healthcare facility design and construction.
The position provides innovative recommendations and solutions to assure successful execution and stabilization of processes, and regularly disseminates project analyses, assignment, timelines and progress reports to leadership.

Qualifications Education- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field
- Seven years’ experience with construction management, including planning and scheduling processes, contract terms, building codes, financial reporting and monitoring systems.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Preferred:
Architect Certification or Professional Engineer (PE) License – State Licensure.
- Demonstrates necessary skills and competencies to safely perform the assigned job.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English necessary for essential functions of the job.
- Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers with a customer‑service focus.
- High level of interpersonal skills to develop relationships with colleagues and clients; negotiates terms and conditions with contractors.
- Strong analytical skills to develop and manage complex construction projects and resolve problems.
- Significant autonomous decision‑making.
- Strong presentation skills for management meetings and preparation of plans and reports.
- Strong knowledge of construction related to professional and medical office buildings and healthcare construction.
- Establishes and maintains clear communication, leads and initiates problem resolution related to project scope.
- Works with clients to understand needs, develop project goals, and manage expectations.
- Serves as liaison between multiple client groups, consultants, contractors, regulatory agents, vendors and stakeholders.
- Responds promptly to internal and external customer requests.
- Initiates improvement recommendations for department scores for employee engagement.
- Navigates diverse project constraints and conflicting requirements to provide effective, code‑compliant solutions.
- Updates project reports, informs management and stakeholders of budget, schedule and risks.
- Processes paperwork including authorizations, RFPs, contracts and purchase orders to maintain schedule and scope.
- Provides timely written documentation, meeting minutes and communicates roles and responsibilities.
- Reviews construction bids/proposals, contractual agreements, pricing and vendor selection.
- Facilitates and monitors compliance with HM design standards and all codes and licensing requirements.
- Analyzes data to communicate findings and report risks/issues for resolution.
- Maintains oversight of procurement processes; reduces schedule impacts.
- Supports a safe environment through risk assessments and life‑safety policies.
- Oversees procurement processes and submittal review to minimize schedule impacts.
- Maintains accurate records throughout project phases, monitoring scope, budget and schedule.
- Identifies cost‑saving or revenue opportunities and solves complex project issues.
- Maintains awareness of market and industry trends and healthcare construction products.
- Identifies self‑development needs and takes appropriate action to advance career.
