About the role:

We are seeking a Senior Cost Manager to support a major data center client in Houston, Texas
. The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated project team, providing comprehensive cost management and commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.

This role will take ownership of key cost management activities, including budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, change management, procurement support, and commercial analysis. The Senior Cost Manager will work closely with client stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams to ensure projects are delivered with strong financial and commercial controls.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Prepare, monitor, and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and cash flow projections.
  • Perform detailed cost reporting and analysis throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project costs against approved budgets and identify cost variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Produce accurate cost forecasts and provide timely recommendations to project stakeholders.
  • Support project controls functions, including cost control, schedule integration, and progress reporting.
  • Collaborate with estimating, procurement, finance, document control, and project management teams.
  • Review and validate contractor applications for payment, change orders, and cost proposals.
  • Assist with procurement activities, bid evaluations, supplier analysis, and commercial reviews.
  • Maintain and enhance cost management tools, databases, benchmarking information, and reporting processes.
  • Support monthly client invoicing, purchase order management, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Identify potential commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare executive-level reports and presentations for both internal and client leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Currie & Brown quality standards and client procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, or a related construction discipline.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in cost management, cost controls, quantity surveying, estimating, or project controls.
  • Experience supporting large-scale data center, mission-critical, advanced technology, or complex commercial/industrial construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction costs, procurement, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to conceptualize project scope and develop detailed cost estimates and budgets.
  • Experience reviewing change orders, pricing analysis, value engineering, and cost benchmarking.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, process piping, and plumbing systems is preferred.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), and industry-standard cost management software.
