Position Summary

ETI Services, Inc. is seeking a dependable, motivated Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our team. This position will be based in the Houston area and will involve regular travel to project sites throughout Greater Houston, with occasional assignments elsewhere in Texas.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of Construction Material Testing experience, works well independently, communicates professionally, and is willing to obtain additional industry certifications. The position includes both field and laboratory work involving soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and related construction materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform field testing, sampling, and inspections of soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and other construction materials.
  • Conduct soil compaction testing and observe concrete placements and other construction activities.
  • Perform laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, and concrete as trained and assigned.
  • Accurately document testing procedures, observations, results, and construction activities.
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily field reports on time.
  • Review and follow project plans, specifications, testing procedures, and applicable industry standards.
  • Communicate testing results and construction concerns to project managers, CMT supervisors, contractors, and other project personnel.
  • Keep supervisors and dispatchers informed of project progress, schedule changes, and delays.
  • Coordinate with dispatch regarding daily assignments and project locations.
  • Follow and help enforce all company and project safety requirements.
  • Safely operate, maintain, and protect assigned testing equipment.
  • Travel throughout the Houston area and occasionally to projects elsewhere in Texas.
  • Participate in company-provided or approved training and work toward additional certifications.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of construction materials testing experience required with soil density testing experience; two or more years preferred.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician-Grade I certification preferred. Candidates without this certification must be willing and able to obtain it.
  • NICET Soils certification preferred, particularly NICET Soils Level II.
  • Additional ACI, NICET, ICC, or related certifications are a plus.
  • Must be punctual, reliable, dependable, and able to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, timely results.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and testing procedures.
  • Basic computer and smartphone skills, including Microsoft Outlook.
