Job Overview

KTRK-TV, a leading ABC owned station in Houston, is looking for a collaborative, innovative, and hard‑working general assignment reporter to develop and deliver exclusive, enterprise stories across our multiple platforms.

• Identify, develop, shoot, write, edit, produce, and report high‑quality stories for linear and digital newscasts.
• Cover breaking, hard‑hitting, enterprise, and race & culture stories for local markets that no one else is talking about.
• Work any day, any shift—including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays—as expected for all roles at KTRK.
• Utilize data, research tools, and new technology to tell high‑impact, data‑driven stories.
• Collaborate with the social media, streaming, and website teams to distribute stories across platforms.

• 2+ years of major‑market television news experience with strong editorial, writing, shooting, editing, and on‑air presentation skills, including live reporting and ad‑lib expertise.
• Exceptional work ethic, ability to work under tight deadlines, and excellent multi‑tasking and prioritization skills.
• Strong presence on social media and reputation as a respected, ethical station representative.
• Willingness to work flexible hours—late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays—and adapt to changing needs.
• Clear background check clearance and a clean driving record.

• College diploma preferred; degree in Journalism or related field is a plus.
