Annunciation Orthodox School (AOS) seeks a vibrant, creative, and dedicated Middle School Theater Arts Teacher to launch a new era of performing arts in our $50 million arts and athletics facility. As the first teacher in our bespoke black box theater, you will craft a curriculum that blends diverse acting techniques with hands‑on production. The ideal candidate is passionate about nurturing a lifelong love for the performing arts in adolescent learners and eager to enrich our school community while supporting our Greek Orthodox traditions.

Start Date:

August 3, 2026

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm; additional time as needed for after‑school rehearsals and performances, as well as meetings and events, including weekly Tuesday meetings until 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily theater arts classes for middle school students, covering theatre foundations, one‑act plays, and additional theatre enrichment classes. Co‑teach the 6th grade musical with the MS music teacher.
  • Direct and manage middle school theatrical productions, including play selection, casting, and rehearsals. Maintain costumes, sets, and props. Connect with AV contractors for large‑scale productions.
  • Expand the reach and impact of the existing drama program and performance opportunities.
  • Partner with grade‑level teachers and the Fine Arts department for integrated performances.
  • Manage assigned carpool and lunchroom supervision duties with a positive attitude. May mentor a grade‑level advisory group.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders regarding productions and student progress.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in theater, performing arts, or education (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Several years of experience teaching theater or directing productions for middle‑school aged students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in stagecraft, including basic knowledge of lighting boards, sound systems, and set design.
  • A passion for the arts and education, with the ability to inspire a diverse student body.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., moving props or set pieces).
