FLUENT IN BLK Media collaborates with creators, leaders, and partners who share a commitment to authentic storytelling and community impact. The team engages with media and PR partners through a dedicated editorial contact to expand its reach and influence.
The Writer will create original, engaging articles and features on culture, celebrity, and lifestyle topics aligned with FLUENT IN BLK Media’s mission and audience. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include pitching story ideas, conducting interviews, researching trends and issues affecting the community, and writing timely pieces for digital publication. The role also involves collaborating closely with editors, fact‑checking content, refining stories based on feedback, and ensuring all work reflects the platform’s voice and values.
The Writer will participate in on‑site meetings, events, and editorial sessions in the United States to stay connected with the team and community activities. This is a remote role located in the United States. We require a minimum of 1 year print/digital editorial experience.
- Strong skills in article and feature writing, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and compelling narratives.
- Experience with research, interviewing, and fact‑checking to develop well‑informed, accurate stories.
- Ability to adapt writing style to different formats, including culture reporting, lifestyle pieces, opinion essays, and profiles.
- Understanding of BLK culture, media, and social issues, with a commitment to community‑centered storytelling.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, including the ability to meet editorial deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with editors, other writers, and partners on‑site.
- Previous experience in journalism, digital media, or editorial writing is preferred; a relevant degree or training in communications, media, or a related field is beneficial.
- Ability to be present on‑site in the United States and engage with local events, interviews, and community activities as needed.
