Social Media Manager – Houston Art Fair
Join a dynamic project to launch the inaugural Affordable Art Fair Houston, a major new event in the city's vibrant arts scene. This freelance role is ideal for a creative social media professional with a passion for contemporary art and a deep understanding of Houston's cultural landscape. You will play a pivotal part in building the fair's local presence, shaping its visual identity, and engaging audiences through compelling storytelling and content creation.
The contract runs through October 25, 2026, including onsite coverage during the fair at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
Deliverables:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy tailored to the Houston market.
- Create, edit, and publish short-form video and visual content across platforms.
- Capture and curate content from Houston's arts community, including galleries, artists, and local events.
- Tell engaging stories about participating galleries and artists to build excitement and drive ticket sales.
- Establish and maintain a consistent visual identity and voice for the Houston social channels.
- Provide live, onsite social media coverage during the fair (October 15–18, 2026).
- Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to maximize reach and engagement.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing social media for arts, events, or cultural organizations.
- Strong creative eye for visual storytelling and content creation, especially video.
- Deep knowledge of Houston's arts community and cultural landscape.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, X) and content editing tools.
- Availability for onsite coverage during the event dates.
- Based in Houston or able to travel locally as needed.
