Job Summary
The Relationship Specialist is responsible for building relationships with current and potential membership by meeting their immediate needs, consulting on future needs, and recommending credit union products and services. The role includes delivering a superior member experience through branch and phone interactions. A deep understanding of credit union processes, products, and services is required, along with a strong sales background to exceed established goals.
Teller duties may also be performed as needed.
- Opening and maintaining accounts and proactively cross‑selling credit union products and services via in‑person sales, phone, and written correspondence.
- Answering questions and resolving complex technical problems on member accounts.
- Processing in‑branch loan requests and uncovering potential lending needs, providing value‑added solutions.
- Providing phone support for routine and complex requests, taking complete ownership of each call.
- Assisting in planning and implementing branch sales promotion campaigns; performing additional duties as assigned by the Branch Manager such as call‑list or external business‑generation activities.
- Complying with company policies, applicable laws and regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- One to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
- High school degree or equivalent.
Courtesy, tact, trust, credibility, and diplomacy are essential. Responsibilities include communicating effectively, influencing, educating, and advising customers and stakeholders. Requires the ability to motivate, influence, and handle diverse cultures at various organizational levels.
Physical RequirementsAbility to bend, sit, and stand for primarily sedentary work; occasional lifting up to 10 lbs; climb or descend stairs in emergencies; operate office equipment; perform computer work 6–8 hours per day; occasional extended hours or off‑site travel; maintain reliable attendance.
Working ConditionsIndoor, climate‑controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional RequirementsAbility to work independently or with limited supervision. Must read and follow written and oral instructions, perform basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and use computer basics. Clear communication and ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure with high accuracy and discretion are required.
