The Donor Operations department at MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a vital role in supporting the institution's blood donor program, helping ensure a safe and reliable blood supply for cancer patients undergoing life‑saving treatments. As the first point of contact for many donors, the Receptionist helps create a welcoming, organized, and positive experience that encourages donor engagement and supports the overall mission of exceptional patient care.
This Receptionist position offers the opportunity to play an important role in donor services while working in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused healthcare environment. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people, providing exceptional customer service, and managing multiple priorities while helping make a meaningful impact on the lives of cancer patients.
In this role, you will provide front‑line support throughout the donor experience, greeting donors, family members, and visitors, completing donor registration, coordinating donor workflow, scheduling future appointments, and maintaining donor records. Your professionalism and attention to detail will help ensure an efficient and positive donation process while supporting donor retention and engagement.
A significant focus of this position is delivering exceptional customer service. You will serve as the primary point of contact for donors and visitors by answering incoming phone calls, responding to questions, directing inquiries to the appropriate staff, resolving concerns, and providing a welcoming experience for everyone entering the donor center. Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment are essential to success.
You will also support daily administrative and office operations, including managing incoming and outgoing mail and packages, performing routine receptionist duties, maintaining organized workflows, and multitasking effectively to support the needs of the department. The ability to stay organized, adapt to changing priorities, and work collaboratively with team members is key to ensuring efficient operations.

The hours are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm. This position is 100% onsite.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Provide support to the donor throughout the donation process- Greet donors, family members, and visitors.
- Conduct donor registration and manage donor workflow.
- Schedule future donations.
- Provide donor follow‑up and employee donor identification maintenance.
- Manage all customer service interactions with diplomacy, actively facilitating resolutions to problems and addressing the needs of clients both internal and external.
- Welcome on‑site visitors, determine nature of business and announce visitors to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with customer/donor issues.
- Answer incoming telephone calls, determine the caller's purpose and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department. Take and deliver messages if not available. Answer questions about our organization and provide callers with our address, direction, and other information.
