Position:Dental Assistant I
UTHealth Houston's School of Dentistry is hiring for a Dental Assistant I to join their team of professionals. The DA I will be responsible for assisting residents/students with dental treatment, taking X‑rays and CBCTs, setting up surgeries, infection control, cleaning and fully stocking operatories, and more. RDA from the State Board of Dental Examiners is required. CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is highly preferred.

Perform routine tasks assisting the professional dental staff and students in the examination and prophylactic, therapeutic, and surgical treatment of patients. Works under direct supervision.
Key Accountabilities- Assist in teaching dental students, dental assisting students, and dental hygiene students in four‑handed dentistry and dental assistant utilization (DAU)
- Provide chair‑side assistance to students and faculty
- Maintain sterile and prepare equipment, instruments, and supplies within working area
- Maintain infection control standards
Maintain records of patients seen, procedures performed, materials used, and appointments - Respond to emergency situations as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Basic office or computer skills
- Dental Assistant certification by Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) required
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a recognized dental assistant educational program preferred.

Physical RequirementsExerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security SensitiveThis position is a security‑sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code, Texas Government Code, Texas Business and Commerce Code, and other statutes. The role requires research, work on, or access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas law. The ability to maintain security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification.
