Job Summary – Correctional Health
The Dental Director provides comprehensive dental care services to patients in the Harris County Jail, while also managing administrative responsibilities. This role is approximately 80% clinical and 20% administrative
.
- Leading quality assurance programs
- Developing, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures
- Establishing dental standards of care and clinical protocols
- Monitoring performance benchmarks and metrics
- Clinically, the Dental Director oversees and provides dental care, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered treatment while mentoring and supervising dental staff.
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) required
- Advanced training (GPR, AEGD) preferred
- Licensed by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners
- Certified Correctional Healthcare Professional (CCHP) certification to be completed within one (1) year if not held at hire
- Three (3) years of direct patient care dental services experience
- Two (2) years of experience overseeing dentists and dental assistants
- Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact)
- Exceptional verbal (public speaking)
- Writing / correspondence and reports
- MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
- Analytical
- Medical terminology
