Job Description:We are seeking a creative, technically strong, and collaborative Designer II / Interior Designer II to help guide the design and delivery of interior architecture, interior design, and FF&E projects from programming through construction. As a Designer II / Interior Designer II, you will have responsibility for interpreting project goals, organizing design efforts, executing technical solutions (with guidance from project leadership), and coordinating interior design assignments across multiple consultants and/or vendors.
With guidance from project leadership, this position is responsible for developing innovative design concepts, producing high-quality documentation, participating in the selection of materials and finishes, coordinating with consultants and/or vendors, and mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate possesses strong design leadership qualities, technical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities while delivering thoughtful, client-centered design solutions.
Position
Qualifications:
- Professional registration as a Registered Interior Designer (RID) in the state of Texas
- LEED, WELL (or similar) accreditation
- Experience in one or more of the following market sectors: higher education, aviation, civic, cultural, K-12, workplace, sports & rec. Medical experience is a plus.
- Professional degree in interior design from a CIDA-accredited program, or a professional architecture degree from an NAAB-accredited program with a minimum of 5 years of post-education relevant industry experience in the United States.
- NCIDQ account set up and actively pursuing licensure. Strong knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC) and ADA related codes (e.g. TAS).
- Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Suite is a must. (Exposure to Rhino, Sketch Up, Enscape, and Affinity software is desirable.)
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop and execute design concepts. Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, specifications, project delivery, and FFE services.
- Experience with construction administration and FF&E implementation.
- A commitment to high-quality work, with a focus on details and results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while meeting budgets and schedules.
- Strong understanding of sustainable design principles and building systems.
- Demonstrated leadership, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience mentoring junior designers.
- Interior Design / Interior Architecture & Space Planning
- Generate and assist project leadership in delivering design concepts that align with client goals, project requirements, budgets, and schedules.
- Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate design assignments from programming through construction.
- With guidance from project leadership, development of space planning studies, floor plans, finish concepts, material palettes, and interior architectural detailing.
- Present design concepts to project leadership.
- Assist project leadership in leading programming sessions and participate in client workshops.
- Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E)
- Assist project leadership in the selection and specification of furniture, fixtures, lighting, artwork, accessories, and equipment.
- Develop comprehensive furniture plans, finish schedules, specifications, and procurement documentation.
- Coordinate directly with manufacturers, vendors, and consultants.
- Evaluate new products, materials, and emerging industry trends.
- Leadership & Coordination
- With the guidance of project leadership, assist in planning and designing the interior aspects of large or multiple concurrent projects.
- Coordinate interior design work with architects, engineers, consultants, and specialty vendors.
