Through strategic planning, programming, furniture management, and move coordination, the Senior Facilities Planner & Designer helps ensure facilities support operational excellence and organizational goals.
Within Facilities Planning, Design and Construction, the Senior Facilities Planner & Designer contributes to facility planning, design, and construction efforts by defining project scopes, preparing preliminary budget estimates, developing program descriptions, and supporting project implementation. The Senior Facilities Planner & Designer also collaborates with stakeholders across UT MD Anderson to support strategic facility initiatives, standards development, and complex space planning projects.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage the end-to-end delivery of furniture service requests, inventory stocking programs, operational reporting, vendor engagement, and program workflows to ensure timely service delivery, effective resource utilization, budget stewardship, and continuous improvement of interior operations processes. Develop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with departmental processes, annual training requirements, and organizational goals.

Salary Range: $106,500 - $133,000 - $159,500
Responsibilities Programming/Planning- Develop facilities programming and planning documents for large-scale and complex projects.
- Create comprehensive space programs, conceptual floor plans, and pre-design reports.
- Participate in departmental and divisional strategic planning initiatives.
- Contribute to facilities planning efforts supporting institutional objectives.
- Plan, procure, and coordinate installation of furniture and equipment with minimal supervision.
- Develop and maintain furniture and equipment inventories, floor plans, budgets, requisitions, and project schedules.
- Obtain required approvals for furniture and equipment procurement activities.
- Create, coordinate, and ensure compliance with design standards programs.
- Develop finish schedules and conduct drawing and submittal reviews.
- Prepare and coordinate variance submissions when required.
- Participate in the creation and refinement of institutional standards.
- Consult with architects, project managers, engineers, and staff regarding building codes, policies, guidelines, and regulations including NIH, AALAC, IBC, NFPA, and ADA requirements.
- Prioritize and delegate furniture-related scopes of work within Facility Asset Requests to external vendors for assessment and design.
- Coordinate with customers and internal stakeholders including planners, EH&S, MEP, O&M, and project managers.
