Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Drafter (Manufacturing Drafting & Detailing professional) to prepare accurate 2D shop drawings and submittal packages for steel and concrete-related fabrication projects. This position will also support basic project coordination, including RFIs, scheduling, revisions, approvals, and communication with internal teams and customers from takeoff through release to the shop.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate 2D fabrication and shop drawings for anchor bolts, templates, base plates, embeds, and grating layouts.
- Review and interpret structural and concrete plans, specifications, schedules, and related project documents.
- Prepare, submit, and track RFIs and coordinate responses with customers, engineers, and internal teams.
- Create and update bills of materials (BOMs), including material grades, sizes, finishes, and coatings.
- Maintain drawing revisions, revision logs, and project documentation to ensure accurate file control.
- Coordinate with sales, planning, purchasing, and shop personnel regarding project priorities, schedules, and release dates.
- Prepare customer submittal packages and track approvals through the production process.
- Ensure drawings and documentation are accurate, complete, and meet project requirements.
- Support projects from initial takeoff through final release to the shop.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of drafting or detailing experience, preferably in a steel, concrete, or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D or equivalent 2D drafting software.
- Strong ability to read and interpret structural and concrete drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Knowledge of fabrication drawings, weld symbols, dimensions, tolerances, and hole patterns.
- Experience preparing accurate BOMs and familiarity with common steel materials and specifications, such as ASTM F1554 Grades 36, 55, and 105, A36, A572, and hot-dip galvanizing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and file-control skills.
- Clear and professional communication skills when working with customers, engineers, and shop personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, revisions, and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and coordination skills.
Compensation:
$70,000 per year
