Join Our Team as a Locum - Physician - General Medicine in Houston, TX
Are you a dedicated General Medicine Physician seeking a flexible opportunity to serve Veterans while maintaining your professional independence? We are seeking committed and high-caliber providers to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments on a PRN basis.

In this role, you will conduct interview-based assessments along with physical evaluations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing. You will participate in one-time non-treatment exams, with no prescribing or treatment responsibilities involved. The position is ideal for physicians with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related fields, especially those experienced in compensation and pension assessments.
Required Skills:
- Valid medical license in Texas
- Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery
- Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform detailed interviews and physical assessments
- Strong documentation and report writing skills
- Flexibility to work PRN schedules, including half-day or full-day shifts
Skills:
- Prior experience with VA or military veterans’ assessments
- Familiarity with compensation and pension exam procedures
- Certification in relevant medical specialties
- Experience working independently in a private office setting
Education and Experience:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Minimum of 2 years post-residency clinical experience
- Prior experience performing assessments similar to VA exams
- Own office within a 50-mile radius of Houston, TX (preferred but not mandatory if working at designated facilities)
- Valid Texas medical license and all relevant certifications
- Willingness to travel within the specified region as needed
- Ability to complete necessary credentialing and onboarding processes promptly
- Commitment to providing accurate, timely reports and follow-up administrative work
