Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Locum Physician specializing in General Medicine to support our healthcare operations starting February 13, 2026. In this role, you will perform non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily through interviews with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing. This position offers flexibility with options for half-day or full-day shifts, providing a great work-life balance.
You’ll work independently, utilizing your clinical expertise to help veterans receive the benefits they deserve while enjoying competitive compensation and a collaborative team environment.
Required Skills:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with active license in Texas
- Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related general medicine specialties
- Proven experience in outpatient care or physical assessments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to conduct detailed interview-based examinations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to complete training promptly and perform initial exams fluently
- Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams or veteran healthcare
- Knowledge of medical documentation and report submission processes
- Bilingual abilities to better serve diverse patient populations
- Familiarity with federal healthcare or veteran affairs protocols
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- A minimum of 2 years clinical experience in general medicine or related fields
- Prior experience with VA or military-related health assessments is advantageous but not mandatory
- Own office location within 50 miles of Houston, TX
- Willingness to perform one-time exams and administrative follow-up reports
- Ability to work on a PRN basis, starting on or after February 13, 2026
- Valid state medical license, with all certifications current
- No travel reimbursement outside of the agreed rates; certification and training costs are not reimbursable
