E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center (MEDVAMC) in Houston, TX, is seeking highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medicine Physicians to join our dynamic healthcare team. As part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, you will provide comprehensive emergency medical care to our nation’s Veterans while working in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Pay$230–$250 hourly or $260 an hour if you can commit to at least six shifts per month.

Work Hours- Monday–Friday: ER Physician – 5:00 pm to 5:00 am
- Monday–Friday: ER Physician – 8:00 pm to 7:00 am
- Monday–Friday: ER Physician – 7:30 pm to 7:30 am
- Monday–Friday:
Mid‑Level – 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm - Saturday–Sunday: ER Physician – 7:30 am to 7:30 pm
- Saturday–Sunday: ER Physician – 11:30 am to 7:30 pm
- Saturday–Sunday: ER Physician – 7:30 pm to 7:30 am (2 shifts)
- Saturday–Sunday: ER Physician – 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
- Saturday–Sunday: ER Physician – 8:00 pm to 7:00 am
- Saturday–Sunday:
Mid‑Level – 8:00 am to 4:00 pm - Saturday–Sunday:

- Provide diagnosis, treatment, and management for patients presenting to the Emergency Department with acute illness and injury.
- Perform clinical evaluations, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Supervise residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers as part of academic and clinical teaching responsibilities.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and hospital committees as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with VA policies, accreditation standards, and evidence‑based clinical guidelines.
- U.S. Citizenship (required).
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (through ABEM or AOBEM).
- DEA Registration for prescribing controlled substances (or eligibility to obtain).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (American Heart Association).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (AHA).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (AHA).
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) (American College of Surgeons).
- Critical Care or Ultrasound Certification (if applicable to subspecialty interest).
- Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Previous VA or academic medical center experience preferred but not required.
