Join Our Team as a Locum Physician – General Medicine in Houston, TX
Are you an experienced general medicine provider seeking a flexible, rewarding opportunity to serve Veterans while maintaining your own schedule? We are looking for dedicated Locum Physicians to perform crucial Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across Houston, TX.
This role offers a unique chance to make a meaningful impact in veterans’ lives, with the flexibility to tailor your working hours and location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interview-based assessments and physical examinations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing.
- Complete one-time non-treatment exams such as C&P and separation health assessments.
- Submit detailed reports and addendums promptly to ensure smooth claims processing.
- No prescribing or treatment involved—focused solely on evaluation and documentation.
- Adaptability to work on a PRN basis, with the option for half-day or full-day shifts.
- Medical degree and active registration as a licensed Physician.
- Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine.
- Experience with compensation and pension examinations preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform physical assessments accurately and efficiently.
Skills:
- Prior experience with veterans’ healthcare or specific training in VA assessments.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and electronic health records.
- Certification in relevant specialties or additional clinical training.
Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 1-2 years of clinical practice, preferably with experience in evaluation of patients for disability or compensation purposes.
- Previous independent examination experience highly valued.
- Must reside within 50 miles of Houston, TX, or the candidate's own office within the specified radius if working in a private setting.
- Ability to complete exams independently with minimal supervision.
- Successful credentialing and onboarding process.
- Willingness to adhere to VES protocols and guidelines.
