The Department of Internal Medicine at UTHealth Houston seeks an accomplished academic physician to serve as Division Director of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. The Director will provide strategic leadership for the division’s clinical, research, and educational missions while advancing its regional and national reputation. The School is affiliated with several inpatient hospitals and outpatient facilities, providing a broad range of clinical services. The primary teaching hospital, Memorial Hermann
- Texas Medical Center, was recently named the second top teaching hospital in the nation. The clinical practice of McGovern Medical School has more than 2,000 providers in more than 80 subspecialties and has 100+ locations and 1.8 million outpatient visits.

Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism

The Division delivers specialized endocrine care across eight clinical locations and major health system partners including Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann TIRR, and Harris Health. The Division includes 11 faculty members, 4 full-time and 1 part-time staff physicians, 2 advanced practice providers, 5 Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, and 6 fellows. Collectively, the division generates more than $12 million in clinical charges, $4.1 million in collections, and more than 68,000 work RVUs annually.

Key Responsibilities

The Division Director will provide strategic leadership for the division’s clinical, research, and academic missions, oversight of outpatient clinics and inpatient consultation services across UT Physicians, Harris Health, and Memorial Hermann, foster and expand multidisciplinary collaborations across UTHealth Houston and affiliated health systems. In addition, the Director will recruit, mentor, and support the career development of faculty and fellows while fostering a strong academic environment.

The division maintains an ACGME-accredited Endocrinology Fellowship Program with six fellows and a strong commitment to trainee education and professional development. The Director will promote and grow clinical, translational, and basic science research within the division; and support medical student, resident, and fellow education.

In partnership with departmental leadership and the Director of Management Operations, the Director will oversee divisional finances, budgeting, and resource allocation while supporting the long‑term sustainability and growth of the division.
