Job Description

The Assistant Principal of Instruction supports academic and student culture outcomes as a key member of the school leadership team. Through supervising, coaching, training, and developing teachers, managing culture initiatives, and supporting school priorities, the Assistant Principal commits to building joyful, academically excellent schools.

Responsibilities
  • Act as member of the School Leadership Team and support the development and implementation of the School Leader’s school‑wide vision.
  • Own implementation of select school‑wide priorities and initiatives directed by the School Leader.
  • Champion KIPP Texas core values and build a community of teamwork and family members dedicated to achievement.
  • Operationalize school‑wide academic and student culture systems, processes, and routines.
  • Lead the annual goal‑setting process for assigned grade levels and departments reflective of regional and school‑wide goals.
  • Effectively action plan and monitor progress toward goals utilizing campus and regional systems.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to concerns escalated from students, staff, and families.
  • Support the School Leader in identifying and developing teacher leaders through coaching and development opportunities.
  • Lead teacher development: manage and coach a team of teachers (up to 9, including special education) to achieve student academic and culture results.
  • Develop mastery of academic standards and implement rigorous, standards‑aligned curriculum.
  • Implement regular coaching cycles through observation and real‑time feedback.
  • Support the coordination and implementation of school‑wide assessments and analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Monitor student academic progress toward goals with data‑driven instructional practices.
  • Evaluate classroom teacher performance using KIPP Texas teacher evaluation rubrics.
  • Lead culture management: implement systems that address school climate, growth mindset, SEL and behavior interventions.
  • Co‑create and monitor student discipline management systems that result in positive behavior and support learning.
  • Resolve conflict and disciplinary situations through a restorative lens aligned to the KIPP Texas code of conduct.
  • Lead data collection and assessment process to evaluate effectiveness of school climate initiatives.
  • Invest and build collaborative partnerships with parents and community stakeholders.
  • Manage staff and student celebrations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Texas Teacher Certification (preferred).
  • 2 years of teaching experience (required).
  • 1 year teacher leader experience with a record of results managing and coaching teachers and/or teacher leaders to improved academic and culture outcomes (required).
  • Strong record of ensuring students achieve academic success.
  • Experience working in education partnering with historically underserved communities and communities of color (preferred).
  • Previous school‑level leadership experience ().
