The position includes duties as classroom teacher, English curriculum owner, and active contributor to the overall growth of students mas High School.

• Ensure the mission and values of the St. Thomas High School are upheld within the department.
• Gives witness to integrity and respect while representing St. Thomas High School in the broader community.
• Engages and becomes part of the St. Thomas High School community.
• Serves all St. Thomas families with compassion and respect.

• holds a bachelor’s degree
• has a minimum 24 hours of college level English courses
• has completed 12 credit hours in graduate level education courses or holds a valid state teaching certificate
• is passionate about teaching
• supports and implements the philosophy of Catholic education

• A strong candidate for this position is a teacher who holds an advanced degree in English, Education, or a related field
• has prior teaching experience at high school or college level
• possesses highly effective classroom management and time management skills
• demonstrates strong lesson preparation and organizational skills
• creates a classroom culture of high academic expectations, high levels of engagement, and high levels of rigor
• provides students with meaningful and timely feedback on their work
• is willing to be reflective and to work collaboratively
• is eager to embrace new challenges
• is willing to coach and to be coached
• is openly enthusiastic and optimistic

This faculty position receives immediate support from the Dean of the English Department, from the instructional leadership team, and from the Learning Enrichment Center team; supervision by and additional support from the Principal and the Vice-Principal.

Essential and important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Teach 5 sections of English in a Catholic college preparatory environment.
• Additional duties include a section of study hall and/or section of substitute coverage.
• Actively pursue professional growth and continually strive to improve curriculum and instruction.
• Willingly take on responsibilities above and beyond standard classroom duties.
• Cheerfully perform duties required of all faculty members as outlined in employment contract.
