This is a full-time, on-site role as Coordinator 1–6-12 ELAR/Social Studies at Houston ISD, located in Houston, TX. The Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and monitoring core, digital, and pilot curriculum and instructional programs in English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) and Social Studies for grades 6 through 12. Daily tasks may include collaborating with teachers for curriculum support, conducting professional development sessions, analyzing student achievement data, and ensuring compliance with educational standards and policies.
The role requires strong collaboration with educators, school administrators, and district personnel to support student academic success.
- Proficiency in curriculum vetting, instructional strategies, and lesson internalization within ELAR and Social Studies.
- Skills in assessment analysis, data-driven decision-making, and program evaluation to improve student performance.
- Experience in professional development and instructional leadership.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Understanding of state and national academic standards, including policies for ELAR and Social Studies education.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Texas Educator Certification, with a focus on relevant subject areas or instructional coordination.
- Demonstrated experience in secondary-level teaching or curriculum coordination; prior experience in a leadership role is a plus.
