Purpose:

Responsible for assisting the Advanced Academic Studies department, as needed, including GT testing and/or implementation of campus gifted programs in a manner that fosters the maximum growth of each student. Qualifications/

Skills:

Education/Certification:

* Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

* Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teaching Certificate from out of state appropriate for position preferred.

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

* Insightful, flexible, and creative

* Proficient in the effective use of technology.

* Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.

* Fluent in English (speaking and writing).

* Bilingual a plus.

Major Duties and

Responsibilities:
Instructional Strategies:

* Assist campus personnel with implementing on-campus PGP program, making necessary accommodations for differences in student learning style.

* Assist Advanced Academics Department and campuses personnel with GT testing

* Work cooperatively with staff members to determine assessment goals, objectives and methods according to district requirements.

Student Growth and Development:

* Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization:

* Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

* Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.

Communication:

* Establish and maintain open communication. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.

* Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development:

* Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerizes reports, records and other documents required.

Other:

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory

Responsibilities:
None Equipment Used:
Computer, ACTIV Board, copy machine and audio- visual machines.

* Maintain emotional control under stress.

* Work with frequent interruptions.

* This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands:

* Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.

* Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desk and other classroom equipment.
