Position: Non-College Work-Study | UHD Graduate Student, Writing Associate

English Salary: $15.00 per hour

Description:

Work ten (10) hours per week, Monday through Friday. Writing Associates will not be compensated for work completed over the weekend and/or when the university is closed.

Duties:

* Assist a UHD professor in face-to-face or online ENG 1301 Composition I, ENG 1302 Composition II, ENG 23XX Sophomore Literature, or TCOM 3302 Business and Technical Writing

* Meet regularly with the course instructor and review and discuss course materials and goals

* Attend all class sessions (if assisting in a face-to-face course) and hold office hours

* Comment on student writing assignments, under that direction of a course instructor

* Participate in class discussions

* Perform all other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Availability:

* Must have good communication skills

* Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Canvas

* Must have the ability to multitask and interact professionally with students, faculty, and staff

* Must have general knowledge of the UHD campus and student services

* Must be reliable and punctual

Requirements:

* Must be a currently enrolled UHD graduate student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher or with permission of the MARC or MSTC graduate program director

* Must have successfully completed 6 graduate hours in the MARC or MSTC programs

* Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester of graduate courses during employment
