French Elementary Homeroom Teacher
The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, wasestablishedin 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English.
By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the schoolremainsdedicated tomaintainingacademic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).
The Lycée International de Houston is seeking
French Primary Homeroom Teachers for School year. We are looking for an energetic, committed educator who upholds excellence, rigor, and kindness—the core values of Lycée International de Houston Bilingual School. Our mission is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially adept students to become leaders and make positive contributions to their communities. Only candidates with experience related to the position will be contacted.
- Bachelor’s degree in Educationor Primary Education (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum5years of elementary teaching experience (Grades 1–5)
- Strong knowledge of the French National Education / AEFE curriculum
- Native-level French proficiency
- Experience working in a multicultural and multilingual environment
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Basic proficiency with educational technology and digital platforms
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- J-1 Sponsorship
- Experience in an international or independent school
- Experience with FLE/EAL learners
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and best teaching practices
- Familiarity with inquiry-based or international educational approaches
- Demonstrated proficiency in English and familiarity with digital tools and platforms (learning management systems, electronic grade books, online instructional tools, and classroom technology)
- Demonstrate strong pedagogy and best practices in elementary teaching and language development
- Create a structured, nurturing, and academically rigorous classroom environment
- Support the social, emotional, and intellectual development of young learners
- Foster cross-cultural understanding and respect within a multicultural school community
- Be adaptable, collaborative, and enthusiastic contributors to school life
- Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the AEFE curriculum
- Teach French language arts, mathematics, and core primary subjects
- Differentiate instruction to support FLE and EAL learners
- Create a structured, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
- Assess student progress and communicate regularly with families
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in faculty and cycle meetings
- Contribute to school life through events, supervision duties, and extracurricular activities
- Maintain professional, respectful collaboration across grade levels and disciplines
