The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, wasestablishedin 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English.

By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the schoolremainsdedicated tomaintainingacademic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).

Job Description

Lycée International de Houston is seeking a passionate and qualified
Mathematics Teacher for Middle and High School
levels, specializing in IB (International Baccalaureate) and/or AP (Advanced Placement) courses for the
School Year
. The ideal candidate will haveexpertisein English instruction aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum, as well as the ability to prepare students for the rigor of IB and AP exams.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, or a related field
  • Minimum three years of middle or high school English teaching experience
  • Experience teaching IBMathematics(SL/HL) and/or APMath(Calculus, AB/BC, Statistics)
  • Strong knowledge of TEKS ELAR standards
  • ESL certification or experience working with EAL students (preferred)
  • Experience in an independent, private, or college-preparatory school setting
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with integrating technology into the classroom, including graphing calculators, online platforms, and educational software.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and positive approach within a multicultural environment
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

The Math Teacheris  responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging instruction that prepares students for academic success in IB and AP programs while fostering a lifelong appreciation for literature and critical thinking.

  • Teach middle and high school

    Math courses, including IB and/or AP levels, aligned with TEKS
  • Prepare students for success in IB and AP exams by providinga strong foundation in mathematical concepts and problem-solving techniques.
  • Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based lessons that promote creativity and collaboration
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in mathematics education, including IB and AP program updates, and pursue professional development opportunities.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse and EAL learners
  • Provide timely, meaningful feedback on student writing and performance
  • Maintain a structured, inclusive classroom that encourages discussion and intellectual curiosity
  • Demonstratedproficiencywith digital tools and platforms (learning management systems, electronic grade books, online instructional tools, and classroom technology)
Collaboration & Professional Engagement
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum alignment and interdisciplinary initiatives
  • Communicate regularly with familiesregardingstudent progress
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
  • Support school operations through supervision duties and extracurricular involvement as needed
Physical & Professional Expectations
  • Ability to move throughout the classroom and actively engage with students
  • Monitor student behavior, discipline, and academic progress
  • Maintain professionalism, organization, and enthusiasm in all school responsibilities
