Purpose and Scope: It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that achieve course objectives and contribute to the educational environment. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop, and teach courses that facilitate student learning.
Adjunct faculty are hired part‑time on a semester‑by‑semester basis, based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Adjuncts may teach up to five classes per academic year.
Essential Job Functions- Teach Computer Information Technology courses at various times and locations.
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Use a course syllabus for each course following institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Evaluate students, inform them of progress, and meet learning objectives.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
- Mastery of course content.
- Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people.
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.
- Commitment to academic excellence and a dynamic learning climate.
- Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and technology use.
- Effective strategies to engage students in their learning.
The work is sedentary. Employees sit comfortably and may walk, stand, bend, or carry light items such as papers. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Standard equipment includes PC, calculator, phone, and other general office tools.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
- Work occurs in climate‑controlled classrooms or labs with minimal hazards.
- Hours vary with class time; instructors must meet scheduled classes and be available to students outside instruction.
- Master's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, or related field.
- Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in a specific area of technology.
$55.44 per contact hour.
