The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th‑grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual‑language immersion program in both French and English.
By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).
Job Description
Lycée International de Houston (LIH) is expanding and seeking a dedicated and nurturing
English Childcare Teacher for our childcare Early Learning section serving children 18–24 months. The ideal candidate is energetic, caring, and creative, and embodies excellence, rigor, and kindness. At LIH, we prepare multilingual, academically, and socially confident students to become future leaders in a diverse, global community.

- High School Diploma or equivalent with Early Childhood Certification
- Minimum Five years of experience teaching English in a childcare or early childhood setting
- Native English proficiency. Spanish a plus
- Experience in an international and/or independent school setting (preferred)
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Positive, flexible, and open‑minded approach in a multicultural environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Basic computer skills (email, word processing, educational platforms)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Responsibilities
- Provide nurturing, developmentally‑appropriate instruction in a multicultural early childhood environment
- Create a safe, engaging, and structured classroom that supports young children’s social, emotional, and language development
- Plan and implement age‑appropriate lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum
- Change diapers and assist in potty training.
- Differentiate instruction to support both native and non‑native English speakers
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress, and communicate updates to families on a regular basis
- Use technology effectively to support learning, communication, and classroom management
- Maintain strong classroom management and model professional behavior at all times
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Collaborate respectfully with other Pre‑School teachers and staff
- Participate in school events such as open houses, parent meetings, field trips, fairs, exhibitions, and festivals
- Fulfill supervision duties as assigned (carpool, recess, lunch, nap duty, after‑school ESL support)
- Attend and contribute positively to faculty and cycle meetings as scheduled by the Head of School
Physical & Working Conditions
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and movement
- Physically able to supervise young children and support their daily needs
- Ability to move throughout the classroom to facilitate individual and group activities
- Maintain emotional control and professionalism in a fast‑paced environment
- Minimum 40+ hours per week on campus
