Music Teacher – Assistant Band Director
Job Title:
Music Teacher – Assistant Band Director. Reports to Building Principal and Director of Performing and Fine Arts. Classification:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or out‑of‑state teaching certificate appropriate for the position.
- Certification must meet federal and state requirements for maintaining qualification.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Follow district curriculum related to classroom instruction and co‑curricular activities.
- Maintain classroom environment conducive to learning through continuous planning and efficient organization.
- Plan public performance experiences that support instructional objectives and meet district standards.
- Conduct after‑school instruction to prepare students for competitions and accompany them to approved activities.
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and regulations.
- Cooperate with faculty and administration to support school and district objectives.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods; conduct ongoing assessment of achievement.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by campus principal.
- Be a positive role model and support the mission of the school district.
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, teachers, and community members.
- Present information accurately and clearly.
- Keep Director of Performing Arts and Building Principal informed of program matters.
- Pursue professional growth opportunities to improve music instruction.
- Participate in staff development activities and comply with regulations and policies.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Maintain budget accounts, music files, and records of equipment and uniform purchases.
- Keep an accurate calendar of rehearsal, performance schedules, and after‑hours facility use.
- Attend regular district staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Performing Arts and/or Building Principal.
Computer, active voice board, copy machine, and audio‑visual machines.
Working Conditions Mental Demands- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
- Regular in‑person interaction with the public.
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
- Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
