The Director will foster an equitable academic experience for students requiring accessibility. This role requires providing accommodations to students, establishing and maintaining working relationships with faculty, educational workshops, assistive technology, and collaboration across the university community with faculty and staff.
Duties- Oversees the daily operation of the Accessible Education Center (AEC) to include determining and implementing accommodations as defined by ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Provides direction and supervision to staff. Manages the budget, contracts, and related departmental operations.
- Develops policies, procedures, and programs as necessary, not limited to accommodations, test proctoring services, student programming, and training for faculty and staff. Elevates the visibility of AEC services.
- Collaborates with faculty to ensure accessibility for students with disabilities.
- Communicates with stakeholders to include students, faculty, parents/families, and administration. Advises or guides students, faculty, staff, and departments on reasonably appropriate academic accommodations and ensures safe building operations, etc.
- Maintains a caseload of students.
- Monitors, collects, and reports aspects of data tracking and assessment related to AEC services regularly, including caseload, data trends, surveys as mandated and required for reporting to institutional, divisional, and departmental assessment and data. Directs the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data relevant to programming and services.
- Ensures compliance with program activities and services with System legal counsel related to the interpretation and assistance of information with policies for students with disabilities and faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Serves on campus committees. Supports weekend and evening institutional, divisional, and departmental programming and activities.

- Master's degree from an accredited college/university
- Minimum of five (5) years of related job experience
- Experience developing, implementing, and facilitating training and programming for students, staff, and faculty
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license
- Doctoral degree
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as Amended, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
- Maintain a knowledge of best practices pertaining to ADA compliance and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
- Organizational and program development skills
- Oral and presentation skills
- Demonstrated integrity and ability to adhere to and handle complex, sensitive, and confidential issues
- Ability to build trusting relationships with constituencies at the university
- Works in an office environment.
- Work is normally performed in a typical, comfortable interior work environment, which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements.
- Individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks.
- May, on rare occasions, require working in inclement weather conditions.
- May, on rare occasions, be exposed to potentially hazardous bodily fluids.
- Must have the ability to move items of up to 15lbs.
