Position Overview

The STEM Education Coordinator – Digital Learning & Coding designs, delivers, and evaluates engaging K–8 learning experiences focused on digital literacy, computer science, and foundational STEM skills. This role integrates creativity, problem-solving, and technology into dynamic lessons that inspire curiosity and confidence among young learners.

The Coordinator develops curriculum, facilitates workshops and after school programs, and supports digital learning initiatives at Baker Ripley’s Learning and Innovation Centers. While this position specializes in early STEM learning and coding, the Coordinator remains familiar with all Innovation Center programs and can assist or substitute in other areas as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Design, implement, and evaluate K–8 STEM and digital learning curriculum, including but not limited to coding, robotics, and problem‑based learning.
  • Facilitate programing during school, after school, weekend, and summer programs at Baker Ripley sites, community locations, and partner schools.
  • Manage and maintain classroom and technology resources, ensuring safe and effective use by students.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement with local schools and community organizations to promote youth participation.
  • Collect, analyze, and report program participation and outcomes.
  • Manage inventory, materials, and space organization for creative technology areas.
  • Sustain relationships with schools, community partners, and participants to expand program reach.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure integrated STEM learning opportunities and provide cross‑program support when needed.
  • Must be willing and able to safely drive and operate Baker Ripley’s Mobile Fab Lab, which includes a truck and trailer used for community outreach and off‑site programming occasionally.
Qualifications

Preferred/

Required Qualifications:

  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in Education, Computer Science, or a related STEM field; or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred:
    Experience in curriculum design or instructional leadership for K–8 STEM or computer science education.
  • Preferred:
    Teaching certification or equivalent instructional experience.
Work Experience
  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience teaching or facilitating STEM or digital learning programs for K–8 students.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing curriculum and managing group learning environments.
  • Experience working with diverse learners in community or after school settings.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Strong understanding of STEM and computer science education for K–8 learners.
  • Proficiency with age‑appropriate coding and robotics platforms (e.g., Scratch, LEGO Robotics, or similar).
  • Proficiency with makerspace and fabrication tools (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters, hand tools).
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, inclusive, and interactive lessons.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and classroom management skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to support other Innovation Center programs when needed.
  • Commitment to inclusive, hands‑on, and community‑driven learning.
