The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English.
By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).
Lycée International de Houston is seeking a
Physical Education Teacher / Sports Coach to join our bilingual school for the
academic year
. We are looking for an energetic and passionate individual who embodies excellence, rigor, and kindness—core values at Lycée International de Houston. Our vision is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially capable students to become leaders who positively impact their communities. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, sportsmanship, and a commitment to fostering physical and emotional growth in students. Only candidates with relevant experience will be contacted.
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of Physical Education teaching experience
- Experience teaching multiple grade levels (elementary, middle, and high school)
- Proven coaching and/or playing experience in organized sports
- Proficiency in English and/or French (native-level fluency preferred)
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Positivity, adaptability, and openness to a multicultural school environment
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate athletic and sports programs
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Experience in an international or independent school setting
- Familiarity with TEKS curriculum frameworks
- Knowledge of current trends in physical education, fitness, and sports instruction
- High energy, creativity, and commitment to student development
- Demonstrated proficiency with digital tools and platforms (learning management systems, electronic grade books, online instructional tools, and classroom technology)
The Physical Education Teacher at LIH is a multi-grade level role responsible for promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits across the school community.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching & Coaching- Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons aligned with TEKS guidelines
- Teach a variety of sports, movement skills, and fitness activities
- Motivate students to develop confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship
- Organize practices, matches, and competitive events as needed
- Model professionalism and promote respectful athletic behavior at all times
- Create a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Assess and communicate student progress regularly to families
- Demonstrate strong classroom and group management skills
- Collaborate with colleagues to expand and strengthen the after-school sports program
- Participate in faculty, departmental, and curriculum meetings
- Support school-wide events such as open houses, fairs, festivals, and field trips
- Supervise duties including carpool, recess, lunch, and after-school activities
- Availability for occasional evenings or weekends for competitions or school events
- Ability to demonstrate athletic skills and participate in physical activities
- Ability to move freely across gym, field, and classroom settings
- Capability to actively supervise students and ensure safety during activities
