Position: Pre-School Teacher Assistant 2026-2027

The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, wasestablishedin 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English.

By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the schoolremainsdedicated tomaintainingacademic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).

Job Description

Lycée International de Houston (LIH) is seekingdedicatedand enthusiastic Pre-School Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and enhance the educational experience for students during the  school year. The ideal candidate willdemonstrateexcellence, kindness, and adaptability, embodying the core values of our bilingual school. At LIH, our vision is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially prepared students to become leaders and make positive contributions to their communities.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred).
  • Previous experience in a classroom or educational setting (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability to a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Basicproficiencyin computer skills (e.g., email, word processing).
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Frenchand/or Spanish is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assistthe lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and activities aligned with the school curriculum.
  • Support students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning and understanding of material.
  • Prepare classroom materials and resources as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times to ensure their safety.
  • Provide support for students with diverse needs, including EAL (English as an Additional Language) or FLE (French as a Foreign Language) learners.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to plan and execute classroom activities, events, and special projects.
  • Assistwithmaintaininga clear, organized, and safe classroom setting.
  • Provide administrative support, such as grading simple assignments, organizing student files, or managing attendance records.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff when required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability tomonitorand manage student discipline and progress actively.
  • Capable of moving about the classroom to engage students and facilitate activities.
  • Physically able to lift and carry light classroom materials as needed.
  • This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40+ hours per week on campus.
  • Regular school hours, with occasional evening or weekend events.
