We are seeking an Adjunct Instructor in Business Technology who will advance the institution’s traditions of excellence in academics, student life and community service. The instructor will provide expertise to support the college curriculum and programs, establish courses following higher education standards, teach using a variety of methodologies, and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The instructional faculty role encompasses teaching and learning, academic advising, professional development and institutional and community service.
The incumbent will teach a maximum load of contact hours per semester in area(s) of competency and participate as a part-time instructor in department, division, and college activities. Faculty may be assigned to teach in modalities of face-to-face, hybrid, online (synchronous or asynchronous), or any combination of modalities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teaching:
Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in the teaching discipline; improve instruction through innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods; develop and use a syllabus for each course or laboratory; plan, develop, and use varied teaching methods and materials aligned with course objectives and diverse student backgrounds; evaluate students and communicate progress promptly; maintain accurate student records and submit reports as required; review and select textbooks and learning materials;
teach courses at varied times/locations as needed; use equipment responsibly and assist with routine maintenance of instructional laboratories; demonstrate competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom. - Academic Advising:
Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community; provide access to students via posted office hours and electronic communication; offer guidance on instructional or program-specific issues; make and present information about academic fields, transfer opportunities, work opportunities, and available support services; create and maintain a department website; collaborate with Chair on advising activities as needed. - Professional Development:
Establish annual objectives for professional growth; stay current with developments in the discipline; learn technologies that support student learning; participate in self-, department-, and college-evaluation processes. - Institutional and Community Service:
Participate in institutional activities (opening week, conference days, commencement); attend discipline committee or program meetings; participate in department/college/system meetings; adhere to policies and procedures; engage in activities that support accreditation standards and college objectives; assist in curriculum review and articulation with other institutions.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
EducationMaster’s degree (or higher) in Business, Business Education or Occupational Education, or Business Administration
, or a Master’s (or higher) in another field with 18 graduate hours in the listed fields; required. Must have current Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) or People Soft certification. Copy of transcript conferring required degree and certifications must accompany application.
3 years working experience in business or industry required. Certification in a learning management system is preferred. Knowledge of legal and medical or People Soft areas to teach in specialized areas. Keep current with changes in business technology.
