Responsibilities
- Review application files and make admissions decisions and scholarship recommendations.
- Prepare recruitment schedule and plan recruiting and yield events.
- Update admissions webpages and printed publications.
- Manage alumni and volunteer programs that support student recruitment and enrollment.
- Recruit and promote university opportunities to prospective students by developing and delivering presentations to high schools, businesses, organizations and UH alumni.
- Maintain key relationships with high schools, community colleges and the media.
- Serve as Lead Counselor in an assigned recruitment area; assess and monitor the progress of recruitment efforts.
- Supervise, train and evaluate student assistants in ongoing recruitment projects such as campus tours, mail-outs, phone campaigns and UH Ambassadors.
- Plan, organize and supervise implementation of university/college recruitment projects and events.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding the Student Information System and act as troubleshooter for Outreach and Admissions staff.
- Monitor target markets and university enrollment and produce reports for use by Outreach and Admissions staff.
- Assist with the development of a training plan for new counselors.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Maintain a university vehicle, including cleaning and routine maintenance.
- Create and maintain prospect records in the campus recruiting management (CRM) system.
- Prepare reports and analyze data from the CRM system to coordinate recruiting efforts with other recruitment specialists.
Location:
Houston, TX.
- Thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.
- Knowledge normally obtained through a formal directly job‑related 4‑year degree or equivalent specialized training program.
- Minimum of three (3) years of directly job‑related experience.
- Experience developing and implementing student recruitment and outreach to meet enrollment goals in target geographic areas and specific student populations.
- Experience with People Soft and other student information systems.
- Higher Education experience.
- Service leadership skills including mutual respect, active listening, responsiveness, empathy, advocacy, and transparency.
- Must be a multi‑tasker, extremely organized, and able to work in a high‑pressure environment, with strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
