Responsibilities

  • Review application files and make admissions decisions and scholarship recommendations.
  • Prepare recruitment schedule and plan recruiting and yield events.
  • Update admissions webpages and printed publications.
  • Manage alumni and volunteer programs that support student recruitment and enrollment.
  • Recruit and promote university opportunities to prospective students by developing and delivering presentations to high schools, businesses, organizations and UH alumni.
  • Maintain key relationships with high schools, community colleges and the media.
  • Serve as Lead Counselor in an assigned recruitment area; assess and monitor the progress of recruitment efforts.
  • Supervise, train and evaluate student assistants in ongoing recruitment projects such as campus tours, mail-outs, phone campaigns and UH Ambassadors.
  • Plan, organize and supervise implementation of university/college recruitment projects and events.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding the Student Information System and act as troubleshooter for Outreach and Admissions staff.
  • Monitor target markets and university enrollment and produce reports for use by Outreach and Admissions staff.
  • Assist with the development of a training plan for new counselors.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a university vehicle, including cleaning and routine maintenance.
  • Create and maintain prospect records in the campus recruiting management (CRM) system.
  • Prepare reports and analyze data from the CRM system to coordinate recruiting efforts with other recruitment specialists.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.
  • Knowledge normally obtained through a formal directly job‑related 4‑year degree or equivalent specialized training program.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of directly job‑related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and implementing student recruitment and outreach to meet enrollment goals in target geographic areas and specific student populations.
  • Experience with People Soft and other student information systems.
  • Higher Education experience.
  • Service leadership skills including mutual respect, active listening, responsiveness, empathy, advocacy, and transparency.
  • Must be a multi‑tasker, extremely organized, and able to work in a high‑pressure environment, with strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
