Middle School Math Classroom Teacher - Grades 5th and 8th
Summary:
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School (SEASCS) is seeking a dynamic, faith-filled Math Teacher for Grades 5 8 who is passionate about developing strong mathematical thinkers rooted in logic, problem-solving, and critical reasoning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in instruction, flexibility in implementing new curricula, and a commitment to educating the whole child within a faithful Catholic environment.
This position calls for an educator who understands the developmental needs of upper elementary and middle school students and who can foster a classroom culture that promotes inquiry, perseverance, and intellectual growth in mathematics.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach Math to students in grades 5 8, ensuring instruction aligns with school standards and curriculum goals.
- Design and deliver engaging lessons that emphasize:
- Problem solving
- Critical thinking
- Logical reasoning
- Conceptual understanding
- Implement and adapt to a new or evolving math curriculum, demonstrating openness, flexibility, and collaboration.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, intellectual risk-taking, and academic excellence.
- Integrate instructional best practices to enhance learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to ensure vertical alignment and academic continuity.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
- Actively support and participate in the Catholic life of the school, including prayer, liturgical celebrations, and faith formation activities.
- Maintain a well-organized classroom and accurate academic records.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience teaching math in grades 5 8.
- Strong background in teaching math through problem solving and critical thinking approaches.
- Experience with or openness to implementing a new math curriculum.
- Ability to adapt instruction based on data, feedback, and student needs.
- Strong classroom management skills rooted in respect, structure, and care.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth.
- Practicing Catholic preferred; must support and uphold the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
