Description:
The Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering in the Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston (UH) is looking for a nontenured Research Professor to lead the Gulf Coast Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC).
The Research Professor serves as Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) within the Cullen College of Engineering.
The Executive Director provides strategic leadership and overall management of TMAC, which delivers business, process improvement, and technical assistance to manufacturing and related businesses across the region. The position is responsible for program leadership, external and internal (with UH faculty and students) engagement, and compliance with sponsor and university requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead proposal development for new funding and program expansion. It is expected that the position will both develop grant proposals as a Principal Investigator and contribute to grant proposals as a co-PI for grant proposals to federal and state agencies and industry.
Provide overall leadership, planning, and administration of Gulf Coast TMAC.
Develop and oversee strategic plans, program goals, budgets, and performance metrics.
Supervise professional staff, assign work, and support staff development and performance evaluation.
Engages with academic and research programs to leverage existing resources and expertise to the mutual benefit of the University of Houston and Gulf Coast industries.
Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and economic development organizations.
Qualifications
PhD degree in engineering, applied science, management, or a related field;
Thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of Process Improvement & Quality Systems;
Supply Chain & Operations Optimization;
Data-Driven Decision Making;
Standards, Compliance, and Certification;
Industry Engagement & Technology Deployment.
Minimum of seven (7) years of directly related professional experience, including leadership or program management experience.
Demonstrated engagement with industry and government partners.
