What you'll do…

The Instructional Designer plays a central role in developing engaging, scalable learning content that supports the growth and performance of ERock's technician and field workforce. This position reports to the Director of Training and is based out of our Houston office on a hybrid schedule.

The role designs and develops training materials that translate technical procedures, safety standards, and operational best practices into effective learning experiences across multiple delivery modalities. In addition to supporting technical skill development, the Instructional Designer contributes to leadership, soft skills, safety, and employee engagement programs that strengthen the organization's culture and core values through collaboration with cross-functional partners across Safety, Quality, Human Resources, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

* Designing and developing learning materials that support technician and field development, including e-learning modules, classroom courses, simulations, videos, and job aids.

* Applying adult learning principles, Bloom's Taxonomy, and sound instructional design methodologies to create effective learning experiences.

* Building interactive digital content using authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, or similar platforms to provide engaging and effective learning experiences.

* Partnering with the Director of Training to define training paths aligned to role-based competency models and qualification cards.

* Structuring modular content that supports onboarding, progression, and ongoing professional development.

* Conducting needs analysis and content interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) across Operations, Safety, Human Resources, and Quality.

* Collaborating with the Technical Writer to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency between procedures and learning materials.

* Managing content within the company's Learning Management System (LMS), including version control, tagging, and reporting.

* Using the Kirkpatrick Model or similar frameworks to assess training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

* Creating visual assets (graphics, diagrams, infographics, videos) that enhance comprehension and engagement.

* Supporting the development and maintenance of templates, design guidelines, and quality standards for all learning materials.

Requirements

Required Qualifications &

Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

* 3-5 years of experience in instructional design, learning development, or technical training.

* Demonstrated ability to design and develop learning materials using tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, Captivate, or Camtasia.

* Strong grasp of adult learning theory, ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) or SAM (Successive Approximation Model) methodologies, and principles of engagement for technical audiences.

* Experience translating technical or procedural information into learner-friendly formats.

* Strong writing, visual design, and organization skills.

* Experience managing projects, timelines, and multiple concurrent deliverables.
