Training Coordinator

Position Overview

The Training Coordinator plays a central role in strengthening the City’s workforce by designing, delivering, and coordinating high-impact learning experiences. The coordinator will lead both general training programs and specialized development sessions, ensuring employees at every level have the tools they need to succeed. They will also guide the City’s broader staff development strategy by identifying skill gaps, recommending training solutions, and ensuring effective implementation.

• Establish and maintain training policies, procedures, and standards.
• Assess organizational training needs and partner with managers to recommend and deliver appropriate training solutions.
• Design and implement training plans, procedures, and programs that address identified skill gaps and operational challenges.
• Create training materials including manuals, reference materials, testing tools, evaluation procedures, multimedia resources, and other instructional content.
• Supervise support staff responsible for routine office functions when required.
• Evaluate and coordinate external training programs offered by community colleges, school systems, and partner agencies, especially those tied to certifications or licenses.
• Maintain training records and ensure staff remain current on required certifications and licenses.
• Stay current on industry trends and maintain professional relationships with training organizations, associations, and peer agencies.
• Conduct briefings and presentations to inform management about new training initiatives, objectives, and expected outcomes.
• Manage vendor partnerships, contracts, service agreements, and relationships for outsourced training services.

Educational:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Personnel Management, or a related field.

Experience:

Four years of professional personnel experience involving training in a formal classroom and/or development of curriculum and lesson plans for adult learners. Pertinent training experience at the professional level may substitute for the educational requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.

• Preference given to eligible veteran applicants who possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties, as per Executive Order 1‑6.

• Passion for adult learning within a fast‑paced, ever‑evolving environment.
• Experience delivering in‑person, virtual, or blended courses.
• Experience measuring the impact of formal learning programs.
• Experience in training and supporting leadership development.
• Degrees or knowledge in adult learning, learning and development, leadership, or instructional development.
• Proficiency using LMS platforms.

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 7 am – 4 pm (subject to change).

Salary Information:
Determined by qualifications and pay rates of other employees in this classification.

Pay Grade: 24.
