CompensationThe starting salary for non‑certified teachers with 0 years of experience is $56,500
. Additional stipends range from $500–$5,000 based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership roles. Teachers may earn up to $29,000 in the TIA program, a state‑funded incentive for high performance.
- Plan a program of study that adheres to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
- Show written evidence of preparation upon supervisory request.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and more.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable for the learning environment and student groups.
- Implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as needed.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, policy, and regulations.
- Assist administration in implementing policies governing student conduct.
- Develop and enforce classroom behavior rules fairly.
- Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes when required.
- Supervise teacher aides or volunteers.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
- Communicate openly with students, parents, and community members.
- Maintain open communication with parents.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Ability to adjust the eye to focus; judge distance; reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate classroom technology.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, and mobility.
- Ability to travel throughout the district and city by personal, private, or public transportation.
