Essential Job Functions- Teach Associate of Arts in Teaching courses at various times and locations.
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform them of their progress in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and orientations.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Mastery of course content.
- Demonstrated leadership skills; a collaborative, teamwork‑focused style.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, adult learning methodologies, collaborative learning, learning communities, and distance learning.
- Commitment to academic excellence and to providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning.
- Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and effective use of technology.
- Proficiency in engaging students in their learning.
The work is sedentary. The employee will sit comfortably to carry out the job, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items (papers, books), or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Work performed in climate‑controlled classroom or lab environments with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
- Hours vary depending on class time; instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.
- Equipment includes a PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the position functions.
Master’s degree in educational psychology, child development, early childhood education, or elementary education, or 18 graduate hours in one of these fields.
Salary$55.44 per contact hour.
