Job DescriptionProvide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned
- Current ESL certification required within 2 years of employment
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Gifted teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required
- Knowledge of subject matter in assigned position
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Completion of student teaching or approved internship
- Serve a diverse population of students who may be participating in state/federal programs as well as general education.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Abide by the Alief ISD Code of Civility.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies).
- Confer with and foster professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators on a regular basis per building and district guidelines.
- Plan and participate in all meetings and provide appropriate documentation for students regarding admissions, reviews, progress, grades, dismissals, conferences, etc.
- Comply with state and federal laws, district policies, rules, regulations, and administrative directives as they exist or may be amended.
- Plan and teach a program of study in accordance with TEA, district mandates, and curricula; multiple preparations are necessary for many.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill TEA requirements and district curriculum, and provide written evidence of preparation as required.
- Use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of students’ learning styles and needs.
- Implement instructional, linguistic, or academic modifications for students receiving services under ARD, LPAC, Section 504, and RtI committees.
- Collaborate with special education teachers and interventionists to modify curricula for struggling students and align with IEP guidelines.
- Cooperate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
- Diagnose learning needs of all students and seek appropriate intervention methods, techniques, and strategies from building and district leadership.
- Assess ongoing accomplishments and needs of students, maintain appropriate records, provide immediate feedback and progress reports per building and district guidelines. Administer state assessments as appropriate. Use small group instruction.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned; sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
- Create an inviting, risk‑free, supportive, and warm learning environment appropriate to students’ developmental level and interests.
- Implement an appropriate discipline management system aligned with building and district policies.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.

- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
