The Part‑time Tutor tutors and instructs students and community members who need learning assistance in assigned discipline(s) and study skills. Primary responsibilities include providing tutoring and related services, and providing an atmosphere that is conducive to and encourages learning. Responsible for the general areas of student academic support, institutional service, and professional development.
This is a temporary, grant‑funded position. Continuation of the position from one academic year to the next is dependent upon continued grant funding.
- Demonstrated proficiency in assigned discipline’s subject matter.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Commitment to quality service to students.
- Ability and commitment to work collaboratively.
- Ability to work independently with little direct or continuous supervision.
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Equipment used includes PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
- Work is performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
- Schedule varies semester to semester and can include evenings and weekends.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Transcripts and/or a proficiency test may be required.
Hourly Pay Rate is $20.77
