Position: Advanced High School Math Teacher (TIA Eligible) - YES Prep Southeast Secondary (26-27)

Description

Position:
Teacher. Reports to Principal. Position Type: 10‑month.

Start Date:

26‑27 School Year. Compensation starts at $64,000 annually. In a Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) eligible course, teachers can earn up to $102,800 based on performance and experience.

  • 1 year of experience: $91,800
  • 5 years of experience: $96,800
  • 10 years of experience: $99,800
  • 15 years of experience: $102,800

YES Prep is a TEA Teacher Incentive Allotment approved district. Teachers in eligible courses can earn up to an additional $32,000 a year if designated under TIA based on their performance on the Instructional Excellence Rubric and student growth for 5 years if they remain in the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Developing rigorous lessons in your specific content area in 1:1 blended learning environments, reigniting students for college and beyond while bridging gaps for marginalized communities.
  • Setting ambitious goals with students and monitoring their progress while encouraging through frequent feedback.
  • Tracking student growth and using data and feedback from coaches to create growth plans when needed.
  • Building transformable relationships with students and families by providing regular communication via phone, video conference, email, or district‑approved website.
  • Creating a physical or virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the development of students.
  • Collaborating with co‑planner to work through daily lesson plans and add resources when needed.
  • Meeting regular deadlines for daily lesson plans, submitting grades, and work samples.
  • Working on a team of teachers and leaders to provide consistency, support, and accountability to all students.
  • Working with content teams in Professional Development to norm on and improve student learning.
  • Conducting weekly tutorials outside of regular class day to provide additional instruction and support.
  • Completing supervision duties on campus that support student safety, including but not limited to morning duty, lunch duty, dismissal, detention, and after‑school duty.
  • Growing professionally by giving and receiving feedback from DOI, school leader, and administration team.
  • Persisting in the face of challenges, learning from mistakes, and setting a strong example of character for students.
  • Being available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with campus leaders, collaborators, students, and/or parents.
  • Providing personal care services as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
  • Texas Educator Certification, or willingness to join ACP to obtain certification.
  • Strong ability to navigate web‑related applications and technology.
  • Ability to instruct using a variety of technology applications and platforms.

  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.

  • Compensation – This position is exempt, salaried; salary commensurate with experience.
