Purpose:
Direct the instructional program, coordinate the behavior management program, and supervise operations at the campus level. Provide guidance in the development and implementation of student individualized educational plans. Direct the implementation of department and division policies.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
* Master's degree from an accredited university
* Texas Teacher Certificate
* Certification in Special Education preferred
* Texas Mid-Management or other appropriate Texas certificate
* Certificate of Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS)
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
* Thorough understanding of school operations and policies with demonstrated program success and growth
* Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
* Strong communications, public relations, interpersonal and presentation skills
* Ability to explain policy, procedures, and data
* Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
* Ability to administer, model, and control student behavior through specialized therapeutic restraint techniques
* Ability to manage budgets and personnel and to coordinate campus functions
* Advance knowledge of computer systems and instructional software applications
Experience:
* Multi-grade/level academic experience
* Three years experience as a classroom teacher
* Three years experience in instructional leadership roles such as campus administrator
* Demonstrated staff mentoring success
* Experience developing implementing and evaluating successful academic and developmental programs for students with alcohol, drug, criminal and/or severe behavioral problems
* Experience working with students with special needs and students in at-risk situations
Major
Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
* Develop, monitor, and evaluate instructional programs including special education services.
* Plan and conduct staff development activities for teachers and staff.
* Monitor instructional and behavioral processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use these findings for campus improvement.
* Work with staff to plan, implement, and evaluate the curriculum on a systematic basis.
* Provide time, resources, and materials to support staff in accomplishing campus goals.
* Process changes and adjustments in student schedules according to their educational plans.
* Provide implementation and use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
* Coordinate and monitor the use of TEKS Resource System, Success Ed and other instructional programs in the teaching and learning process.
School/Organizational Climate
* Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals for math, science, ELA, social studies, and special education services.
* Foster collegiality and team building among staff and encourage their active involvement in the
* decision making process in the development of the campus improvement plan.
* Provide for communication with division director, staff, students, parents, school districts and other affiliated agencies and personnel.
* Communicate and promote expectation for high level performance from staff and students; recognize excellence and achievement.
* Facilitate effective and timely resolution of conflicts.
* Treat all staff with dignity, integrity and respect.
School/organizational Improvement
* Determine and build a common vision with staff for school improvement; direct planning activities and implement programs collaboratively with staff to ensure attainment of division's mission.
* Lead a collaborative process to develop campus performance objectives involving staff, parents, and affiliated personnel.
* Develop, maintain, and use appropriate information systems and records necessary for attainment of campus performance objectives.
Personnel Management
* Conduct the process of interviewing, recommending, and orienting all staff.
* Define expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the school districts, parents and community.
* Direct/perform/supervise employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with all staff according to the PDAS and Appraisal Calendar.
* Confer with staff regarding their professional growth; work jointly with them to develop and accomplish improvement goals.
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
* Comply with department policies as well as state and federal laws and regulations affecting the schools.
* Make recommendations and meet timelines for program budgets based upon documented program needs; manage campus petty cash fund; estimate enrollment, personnel, and other fiscal needs; implement programs within budget limits; maintain fiscal control; accurately report fiscal information.
* Coordinate with facilities the use of school facilities; supervise maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus.
