Primary

Purpose:

Provide high-level literacy learning experiences to students struggling academically in Math. Provide appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area using a combination of delivery methods such as whole group, small group, one-on-one, and computer-based learning designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned Math 7-12

Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Deep understanding of scientific-based reading research and evidence-based practices for teaching reading and math and assessing student progress toward achievement of benchmarks

* Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

* Ability to disaggregate and interpret data

* Ability to assist teachers in the development and implementation of intervention plans

* Ability to assist teachers in effective instructional strategies

* Ability to implement and monitor the intervention plans

* Ability to implement diagnostic programs in reading and math

* Ability to communicate data to administrators, teachers, and parents

Experience:

Three or more years of teaching experience desired.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

* Implement scientific-based reading research (SBRR) strategies to enable students to develop the competencies and skills to be successful readers.

* Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.

* Evaluates academic growth of students and maintains appropriate records.

* Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning problems.

* Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.

* Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).

* Coordinates and monitors student intervention plans.

* Analyze all testing results.

* Assist teachers in using data to drive instruction.

* Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding the progress of identified students.

Student Growth and Development

* Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.

* Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.

* Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

* Established and maintains standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities.

* Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

* Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

* Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

* Maintain appropriate Title I funded materials and inventory.

Communication

* Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.

* Communicates with parents through a variety of means

* Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.

* Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development

* Participate in professional development activities to improve job-related skills.

* Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for an intervention teacher.

* Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

* Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

* Assist / conduct staff development and parental involvement workshops as requested by campus administration.

* Meet regularly with District contact and others to assess progress and necessary modifications of the implementation of campus and district literacy programs.

Policy Implementation

* Keep information of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for an intervention teacher.

* Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

* Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

* Selects and requisitions instructional materials; maintains inventory records.
